Meet Quincy Dawson
My name is Quincy Dawson and I have been an Educator since 2016. After I earned my Bachelor’s of Science - Physics from Morehouse College and a Master’s of Education from Claremont Graduate University, I have spent over half a decade teaching various levels of high school Physics to students in public, independent, charter, and homeschool cohorts throughout Los Angeles, California and Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to teaching high school Physics, I also serve as an instructional coach for math and science teachers, I’ve trained high school and college students to teach a unique game-based Algebra curriculum to other middle and high school students, and also lead the Organizing efforts of the youth programs at a Black liberation center in Atlanta.
The idea for The Greatest Teacher of All Time began when I switched schools during the pandemic. All my classes were virtual and it was hard to connect and meet new teachers at my job from home. When I was able to meet new teachers, I saw that they all had a lot of great ideas, but it was so hard to share them. Because of this, I created The Greatest Teacher of All Time - a platform to highlight teacher’s of color and their personalities, strategies and philosophies on Education.
From what started as a small YouTube channel highlighting a few teachers has quickly turned into a larger calling. Teaching is hard. It’s a thankless job and there are a lot of wonderful teachers who are on the verge of leaving the profession due to the lack of appreciation. While it may not be much, I hope that by highlighting 10 teachers each school semester, I am able to give a little bit of hope and inspiration to teachers everywhere!
